A native of Detroit and a graduate of St. Mary’s of Redford High School, Dr. Scott began his journey of service in the United States Marine Corps. He served in major military campaigns, including Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Storm—experiences that provided him with a deep, firsthand understanding of trauma, resilience, and the invisible wounds that many carry long after service ends, highlighting the importance of trauma recovery.
Following an honorable discharge in 1992, he redirected his commitment to service into education, justice, and community-based support. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, laying the foundation for a career focused on rehabilitation, equity, and systemic change, along with a strong emphasis on community intervention and mental health advocacy.

Over the years, Dr. Scott has built a multidisciplinary career that spans education, mental health advocacy, and community intervention. He has served as: Substitute and Special Education Teacher, Continuing Education Instructor, Literacy and Graduation Coach, Tutor for incarcerated individuals, Grant Writer and Program Developer, Nonprofit Founder, and Community Activist. His work has consistently focused on those who are often overlooked, including veterans, justice-involved individuals, youth, and underserved communities, as well as those facing trauma, addiction, and social isolation, emphasizing the importance of trauma recovery in his advocacy.

Dr. Scott’s work stands at the intersection of: Lived experience, evidence-based practice, and peer-informed support. He doesn’t approach healing as a clinical process alone. Instead, he focuses on: Restoring identity, rebuilding dignity, and creating pathways to long-term stability. Through his mental health advocacy, Dr. Scott engages in community intervention that bridges the gap between personal healing and system transformation, aiding both individuals and organizations in their trauma recovery journey toward more effective, compassionate outcomes.
